Why are we blogging?

Why are we blogging? The short answer is to make things better. The longer answer is to provide value online, just as we are offline.

Through HVA (Hospital Video Auditing), our company provides an affordable, "always-on" technology for improving compliance with patient safety protocols, including hand washing.

But this blog focuses on more than HVA. Much more. The fact is, to improve patient safety practices--and significantly decrease preventable medical errors--necessitates communication as much as it does innovation.

So this initiative will 'Focus' (hence our blog's title!) on increasing awareness of all patient safety efforts, no matter the company, country, group, person or driving force behind it. And we'll do our best to aggregate and cover patient safety information regarding developments, news, programs, resources, advocacy efforts, studies and solutions.

We hope this blog will serve as a patient safety resource for many audiences, including hospital administrators and caregivers who are looking for new ways to improve their patient safety practices, press professionals seeking current information in the patient safety arena, patient safety advocates who are also working for change, and consumers interested in patient safety statistics and developments.
